STARS READY TO TAKE ON HAGERSTOWN TOP DRIVERS IN SCHETROMPF MEM.

HAGERSTOWN, MD - The Renegade STARS National Dirt Car Racing League will
make their first appearance of the year at the Hagerstown Speedway on
Saturday night, April 28th at 7 P.M. The 50-lap Stanley Schetrompf
Memorial will pay $6,000 to the winner. Joining the STARS late models
will be the Hoosier Tire late model sportsman, Ernie's Salvage Yard
pure stocks and the 4-cyl pure stocks.. Gates will open at 5 P.M. with
warm-ups at 6:30P.M. The Schetrompf Memorial is held each year to honor
the man that built the speedway 54 years ago in 1947. General admission
is $16 with children under 12 FREE.

Defending National STARS Champion Chub Frank of Sugar Grove, PA, and
current point leader Jackie Boggs of Graysonville, KY will lead a large
field of STARS drivers to Hagerstown to take on the tough local ITSI
late model drivers who have their sights on the winner's share of the
$33,000 purse. Other STARS drivers expected include Rick Auckland of
Zanesville, OH, WV, John Mason of Millersburg, OH and Davey Johnson of
Greensburg, PA. Plus past STARS champion Mike Balzano, Todd Andrews,
Nolan Dalton, Steve Shaver, R.J. Conley, Mike Johnson and more.

In 38 previous STARS events at the immaculate half-mile oval, 15
drivers have found their way to Victory Lane. Gary Stuhler of
Greencastle, PA heads the list with eleven victories including five
consecutive "Schetrompf Memorials" from 1994 to 1998. Rodney Franklin of
White Post, VA has garnered six triumphs while Donnie Moran of Dresden,
OH has four to his credit. Drivers with two STARS wins include Steve
Francis, Jack Boggs, Bart Hartman of Zanesville, OH and Bob Wearing Jr.
Drivers with one win include defending race champion Mike Balzano, Roy
Deese Jr., Todd Andrews, Larry Moore, Freddy Smith, Nathan Durboraw, Bob
Wearing Sr. and Buddy Armel.

Other local drivers who want to turn back the STARS include Durboraw,
Franklin, Jeremy Miller, Two-time defending track champion Roy Deese
Jr., Devin Friese, Frankie Plessinger and more..
