UDTRA TEAMS READY FOR SATURDAY NIGHT TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY RUN
FORT WORTH, TX - The top dirt late model teams in the country will converge
on the 4/10-mile dirt track at Texas Motor Speedway for the 75-lap
$15,000-to-win Albertson's Spring Challenge for the United Dirt Track Racing
Association Pro DirtCar Series on Saturday night. Live updates of the

The event has been rescheduled from Wednesday night. With 49 entrants
ready for hot laps on Wednesday night, a steady drizzle fell over Texas
Motor Speedway forcing postponement until Saturday night.
Most of the teams have elected to remain in Texas for the Saturday night
show, and even more teams are expected to join the field. UDTRA Pro DirtCar
Series title contenders including point leader Rick Eckert, Steve Francis,
Steve Shaver, Billy Moyer, and 2000 TMS winner Dan Schlieper are ready to
Other top ten drivers prepared to race include Chub Frank, Wendell Wallace,
1999 UDTRA Dale McDowell, defending and four-time UDTRA Champion Scott
Bloomquist, and Terry English. Drivers looking to move up to the top ten
with a strong TMS run are Ray Cook, Freddy Smith, Davey Johnson, Dennis
Jr. and 2001 UDTRA Rookie of the Year point leader Joe Izzo.
Winston Cup star Ken Schrader will return for the Saturday night program.
Tony Stewart will not be able to compete Saturday night due to prior
commitments with his Winston Cup team, but he has found a replacement driver
for his dirt late model in World of Outlaws point leader Danny Lasoski.
Texas Motor Speedway officials announced a traffic flow plan to assist
and competitors trying to enter the track, as the NASCAR Busch Grand
National event will be taking place on Saturday afternoon at the 1.5-mile
The pit gate will open at 1 p.m., during the Busch race. Competitors,
fans that wish to come to the dirt track early, should do so between 1 p.m.
and 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. TMS officials are encouraging the dirt track
fans and competitors to enter the track from the north on southbound I-35W.
From southbound I-35W, exit on Highway 114, then turn right at the Texas
Motor Speedway marquee sign. Then take the next left to proceed to the
track. Fans and competitors approaching the track from the south on
northbound I-35W should travel north one mile of the speedway and the
Highway 114 exit, and go to the Highway 1171 exit. Then cross over the
interstate to go back to the track on southbound I-35W, and take the Highway
114 exit to the marquee sign entrance.
For fans not able to arrive at the dirt track before 2:30 p.m. should wait
until after 5 p.m. to approach and enter the speedway to allow time for
departing Busch race traffic to clear out. UDTRA Pro DirtCar Series start
