Iowa State Fair Speedway Opener Delayed by Weather,
Practice To Be Held
(Des Moines, Iowa) The track at the Iowa State Fair Speedway is
ready for racing, but water for the restrooms and concession stands
Due to the cold weather, the Iowa State Fair is unable to turn on the
water for the restrooms and concession stands, resulting in
cancellation of the special program scheduled for Friday night.
However, drivers and cars will have the opportunity for practice
Friday night between 5:00 and 8:00 PM and also on Saturday from 11:00
AM to 2:00 PM. Admission to the pits for practice is $7.00 per
person. The grandstand will not be open for practice.
The Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA late models and the Midwest
Motors Best of the Midwest Series for IMCA stock cars, who were
scheduled for this Friday, will return during the Iowa State Fair on
The regular racing season will open on Friday April 6 with IMCA
modifieds, IMCA stock cars, IMCA hobby stocks, and NDTR dirt trucks.
The annual Danny Young Special for 360 sprint cars will be featured
on Friday, April 13.
