UTICA-ROME MODIFIEDS MUST HAVE TRANSPONDERS FOR
SUPER DIRT SERIES EVENT ON MAY 13
VERNON, NY – Race teams at the Utica-Rome Speedway are reminded to purchase their AMB TRANX260 Transponders for the new state of the art computerized scoring system scheduled to be used this season. This applies only to the DIRT 358-Modifieds, DIRT Sportsman, and DIRT Pro Stocks.
While the Sportsman and Pro Stock teams have until June 1 to have the transponders in their possession and installed, it will be MANDATORY for the 358-Modifieds to have them for the 100-lap Sunoco Race Fuels Super DIRT Series event at Utica-Rome on Sunday May 13.
Race teams can purchase transponders directly from DIRT Motorsports or rent them out at each Super DIRT Series host track. The cost of a rechargeable transponder plus battery charger is $332.00 U.S. and a direct powered transponder is priced at $300.00. The rental fee is $30.00 at each event. Checks can be made out to AMBit and mailed to DIRT Headquarters, P.O. Box 240, One Speedway Drive, Weedsport, N.Y. 13166.
Affixed to each competing car, every transponder sends out a signal consisting of a unique number. A detection loop is installed at a track's finish line and when the transponder passes over it the number and exact time is sent to a computer.
ChronX version 1.0 is the latest identification and timing computer software used today. The lap times of all competitors are recorded during qualifying sessions/races and officials, teams and media members can print out the detailed data for immediate use. Each transponder holds a minimum 3-year guarantee with life expectancy currently measured at 7-10 years.
