AFTON SPEEDWAY GEARS UP FOR SECOND FULL D.I.R.T. SEASON!
Afton,NY? After joining the DIRT family last season, Afton
Speedway is getting set to start off its second season under the DIRT banner.
The mighty DIRT 358 Modifieds will once again be the top class at
the clay oval, with DIRT Sportsman, Pro Stocks, Pure Stocks, Four Cylinder
Stocks and Dwarf Cars filling the card to make a six division weekly show.
The track is set to open up for a test and tune session for all
divisions on Saturday, March 31st at 12 noon, weather permitting. The
thunder returns to Afton on Saturday April 7th at 6:00pm for the Opening
Race Day for all divisions. Afton will be running a second Saturday evening
program on April 14th before switching over to its regular Friday night
programs starting April 20th.
New for the season is the addition of two shows on the schedule
for the popular local North vs. South series, which includes two races each
at Afton, Thunder Mountain, Penn Can and Skyline.
Other highlights for the season include the return of the
Midstate Vintage Stock Car Club on June 8th, a stop on the Sunoco DIRT 358
Modified Tour on Tuesday, July 24th, a DIRT Sportsman and DIRT Pro Stock
combined tour show on October 12th, and the annual Halloween Spooktacular end
of the year blow out on Saturday, October 27th.
Another new item for the season will be the introduction of an
electronic scoring system into Southern Tier racing as Afton will be using
the new ChronX electronic scoring system by AMB Identification and Timing to
score it?s top two DIRTdivisions, the 358 Modifieds and Sportsman. This will
be the first time, to our knowledge, that a track in our area will be using a
system like this.
