RACEWAY 7 NEWS
Conneaut, OH (March 24) - Raceway 7, located south of Conneaut, Ohio, has announced plans for the 2001 racing season. Four divisions of race cars will compete on the Nielson family's 7/16 mile clay oval, racing weekly on Friday nights.
The opening race of the 2001 season will take place on Friday night, April 27. The Maloney Tool and Mold Super Late Models will headline the four division racing programs each week. The Jay's Auto Wrecking Steel Block Late Models, MHC Inc. E-Mods, and Fame Manufacturing Street Stocks will also share in the weekly racing programs. The gates will open each week at 5:30, with the race time set for 7:30 PM.
The first on-track activity will take place on Friday, April 20. "Practice Night " is scheduled, to give the racing teams some practice sessions prior to the start of racing. The General Admission Grandstands will be open free of charge on this day, as drivers shake down their machines for the new racing campaign.
The biggest event of the 2001 season will take place on Friday, July 6. The national traveling series UDTRA will visit for the running of the Second Annual "General Aluminum 100." The winner of the 100-lap event will earn $20,000. Time trials and qualifying heats will take place on a special Thursday, June 5 program.
Two regional sanctioning bodies will visit Raceway 7 in the coming season. The STARS Late Models will visit on Friday, May 25. This will be a 100-lap main event, paying $10,000 to the winner. The Mid-Atlantic Championship Series have a date set on Friday, August 17. Bossard-Crawford GM will sponsor the 100-lap feature, paying $10,000 to the winner.
The final show of the 2001 season will take place on Friday, September 7. It will mark the return of the sprint cars to Raceway 7, for the first time since 1994, as the Triathlon Sprint Series will visit. Also on the card will be the York Triathlon Series E-Mods, for the running of their premier event, "THE 100." The longest York Series event in history should draw a large amount of cars, as additional York Series events will run on May 11 and August 10.
Other special events for 2001 include the Super Late Model "Triple Nickel." There will be a $5,000 to win race at Raceway 7 on June 22, followed by a $5,000 to win race the next night at McKean County Raceway in Smethport, PA. A challenge race for the top finishers will pay another $5,000 top prize. Coca-Cola Christmas in July will feature the Super Late Model Topless Challenge on July 20.

Friday, June 22 - Triple Nickel - Super Late Models $5000 to win at Raceway 7. To be run in conjuction with a $5000 to win race at McKean County on June 23, plus a $5000 to win shootout for the top finishers from each night. Speedo the Clown, plus four division racing.
Friday, June 29 - $2000 to win Super Late Model sponsored by Corry Laser. Four division racing. Fireworks and Demo Derby.
Saturday, June 30 - Special Saturday truck pull. Truck pull by NWT&T Pull Association.
Thursday, July 5 - Two day UDTRA Pro Dirtcar Series Ohio Nationals. Time trials and heats for Super late Models. Full program for Steel Block Late Models.
Friday, July 6 - UDTRA Pro DirtCar Series Late Models, The General Aluminum 100 $20,000 to win. Plus E-Mods and Street Stocks.
Friday, July 13 - Rigby Ford Mid-season championships for all four divisions. Special rules apply.
Friday, July 20 - Coca-Cola Christmas in July Night. Annual Topless Challenge for Super Late Models, $2500 to win. Four division racing.
