TERRY MEITZLER SEEKS BIG DIAMOND MODIFIED TITLE

Minersville, PA - (March 21) Terry Meitzler of Kutztown, PA feels he is ready
to be a serious contender for the 2001 Big Diamond Raceway's NASCAR Weekly
Racing Series Modified point championship.
Meitzler will get his first 2001 shot at the Big Diamond Raceway
3/8th-mile when the gates swing open for the track's 30th racing season on
Sunday afternoon, April 1. Racing is scheduled to get underway at 2 PM
featuring the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Modifieds, NASCAR ShorTrack
Sportsman and NASCAR Roadrunners.
"We have a full season under our belts as a team and we should be a lot
more prepared this year," commented Meitzler on his relationship with ****
Biever's Alpha Mills 14 team. "Last year was my first time in a Troyer car
and the first season in six years since I ran at Big Diamond. We have a bunch
of good guys on the team but they were all new to me. We should be ready to
race this year!"
Meitzler was competitive all season long in the yellow 14 at Big Diamond
and did finish fourth in points. But a season without any feature wins left
the team hungry.
Both Terry Meitzler, as a driver, and **** Biever, as a car owner, have
visited the Big Diamond winner's circle a time or two in their careers.
Meitzler's win came in the Meitzler Family's 21A modified. Biever's successes
have come in his traditional 14 cars, which ran at Diamond since the track
opened in the early 1970's, and he actually won the 1977 Big Diamond Track
Championship with driver Smokey Warren in 1977
"As long as we can win a few races we should but in a position to contend
for the championship. Last year we fell just a few points short on the points
chase at Grandview Speedway (in the Meitzler family-owned 21A) but I'd sure
like to win a points title at Big Diamond in the 14.
Following the April 1 season opener, Big Diamond Raceway has another
Sunday afternoon show slated for April 8 featuring the Modifieds, Sportsman
and Roadrunners. The, after taking the Easter weekend off, the track moves to
a weekly Friday night format on April 20 for the remainder of the year with
an 8 PM starting time.
