Green Valley Speedway 2001 Season Opener This Friday Night
Glencoe, AL-Green Valley Speedway will open the gates for the first Weekly Racing Points race event of the year this Friday night at 7:30pm. A Full Racing Program will be on the card for the curtain raising event. Fans and drivers that have not visited Green Valley Speedway will be greeted to many improvements that will increase the quality of entertainment value for the fans. The fans will have a new 4000 seat high rise aluminum bleachers to watch the races along with expanded trackside parking in turns three and four along with new seating in turns one and two. The trackside parking is available at no additional cost for the spectators. The pit area has also been moved to outside of the track behind the backstretch, providing a clear view of the exciting 3/8’s-mile semi banked clay oval.
The main event of the evening will be a 25-lap feature event of the Kilpatrick Chevrolet Super Late Models. The Super Late Models will also have the Alabama Drivers Academy 6-lap Quick Six Dash For Cash. Also in action will be the exciting Sportsman division along with the Gulf Coast Region IMCA Modifieds, the Super Stocks, new Bomber class, plus Pony Stocks.
A large field of drivers are expected to compete including defending Super Late Model Track Champion Danny Peoples of Margaret, AL along with 2000 GVS Track Champion Greg Skinner of Oxford, plus Ft. Payne’s Mark Bangs, Boaz’s Tim Busha, Rome’s Jody Summerville plus many more. The always-competitive Sportsman division will feature local drivers such as Gadsden’s Dennis Collins, Kevin Tallant, Greg Noah, Dwayne Bickerstaff, plus Rome’s Chad Smith. The Gulf Coast IMCA Modified Division will be led by Southside’s Kevin Waddell along with Piedmont’s Gene Mince and Ashville’s Foster Poe.
