DIRT TRACK FANS HAVE REASON TO CHEER FOR STEWART AND SCHRADER
FORT WORTH-DALLAS (March 19, 2001) - NASCAR Winston Cup stars Tony Stewart and Ken Schrader will have many of the fans cheering for them to win the Albertson's Spring Challenge at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track Wednesday night, March 28. Besides seeing their favorite win the 75-lap United Dirt Track Racing Association Pro DirtCar Series race, fans will be rewarded if Stewart or Schrader can pull off the victory against the nation's leading drivers.
Fans attending the Albertson's Spring Challenge will receive a coupon that can be redeemed at Albertson's grocery stores for a free two-liter bottle of Coca-Cola should Stewart win the UDTRA race or for a free Slim Jim should Schrader cross the finish line first.
"This should make the Albertson's Spring Challenge even more interesting," said Eddie Gossage, speedway general manager. "It will be a challenge for Tony Stewart or Ken Schrader to defeat the best dirt late model drivers in the country. The fans will receive an extra reward if either can pull an upset and win the race."
Four-time and defending UDTRA Pro DirtCar Series champion Scott Bloomquist will head up the entries for the Albertson's Spring Challenge. Other leading drivers set to tackle the four-tenths mile Dirt Track are last year's Texas UDTRA winner Dan Schlieper, Arkansas veterans Billy Moyer and Wendell Wallace, points leader Rick Eckert, Steve Francis, Donnie Moran and Freddy Smith.
Eckert will accompany his car for an autograph session from 4 - 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 27 at Albertson's located at 1108 N. Highway 377 in Roanoke. Francis will appear 5 - 7 p.m. at Albertson's at 8428 Denton Highway in Watauga.
