UTICA-ROME NYSSCA MEMBERSHIP MEETING SET FOR
TUESDAY APRIL 3 IN NEW HARTFORD
NEW HARTFORD, NY – New York State Stock Car Association (NYSSCA) members at the Utica-Rome Speedway will have a special NYSSCA membership meeting on Tuesday April 3 at the Ramada Inn in New Hartford.
The meeting, which will begin at 7pm in the Oneida Room at the Ramada, will be a first for Utica-Rome members. Never before has a NYSSCA membership meeting gone on the road, and specifically for Utica-Rome members. Recently, NYSSCA made the decision to take the monthly meetings on the road for 2001, to get more NYSSCA members involved in the organization and to foster growth in membership.
Track publicist Doug Zupan commented, "NYSSCA has done a great deal for Utica-Rome and for its drivers, and I think it would be great to see an excellent turnout of members and interested folks for the upcoming Utica-Rome meeting."
In the last three years since Utica-Rome became a NYSSCA member track, dozens of the track’s drivers have been honored by NYSSCA for their racing accomplishments. Just last year, NYSSCA held a Safety Awards night at Utica-Rome, and honored the first NYSSCA members with an award and an extra $50 in cash for being the first NYSSCA member to finish the features in their respective divisions.
At the 32nd annual NYSSCA Awards banquet this past January 20, NYSSCA honored sixteen of Utica-Rome’s drivers for their accomplishments during the 2000 racing season in addition to inducting Fonda and Utica-Rome legend Lou Lazzaro into the NYSSCA Hall of Fame.
NYSSCA will be heavily involved in the 40th anniversary season this summer at Utica-Rome. Each week, various NYSSCA representatives will be on hand selling yearly $25 memberships. On August 19, Utica-Rome will have its 40th anniversary celebration, including NYSSCA Hall of Fame and Awards night, where several of Utica-Rome’s great drivers of the past will be inducted into the NYSSCA Hall of Fame, right at the speedway!
2001 season NYSSCA memberships are available now, and each membership helps award the drivers for sportsmanship and dedication to the sport in addition to bolstering the injured driver’s fund. Everyone, including drivers, car owners, crew members, track officials, and fans are welcome to join this great organization for the betterment of dirt track stock car racing in the Empire State.
The Ramada Inn is located at 141 New Hartford St., the New York Mills exit of I 790 (routes 5, 8, and 12) just south of Utica. For more information on the Utica-Rome NYSSCA membership meeting or to become a member, contact Ed or Betty Biittig at (518) 868-9300 or log on to www.nyssca.com.
