The Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series Begins This Weekend!
Mississippi-The rebirth of one of the most popular series in the South takes place this weekend at two of the South’s premiere racing venues. The Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series will begin its “Back With a Vengeance 2001 Tour” at Columbus Speedway Friday night for the “Slamrock 40” then the caravan of Mississippi Mercenaries will invade the capitol city at Jackson Motor Speedway on Saturday night to top off a fantastic weekend of racing. Fans and drivers alike are extremely excited about this series that offers what has the potential to be the most competitive set of races ever staged in the Magnolia State.
The rules for the series offer all drivers a fair chance to be competitive. The format for the races offer the race fans a dream come true. Drivers will draw for heat races, transfer to the main event by virtue of passing points, and those not transferring to the main event will be allowed one last chance to race their way into the field through the B-Main events. It will be nonstop racing action that has long been desired by the fans. The Mississippi and other regional participating drivers and Mississippi promoters should be applauded and strongly supported for banding together to give the fans the perfect Motorsports Entertainment format.
The first event will be on Friday night March 16th at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi. The feature event will be “The Slamrock 40” MSCCS Main event. A new track record was set last week at the reconfigured Columbus Speedway featuring side by side racing and an extremely fast high groove on the new red clay. All local divisions will also be in action. Pit gates will open at 3pm with action at 7pm. Columbus Speedway will also have a Full Racing Program Saturday night as well with all divisions in action. The same wild and exciting format will be in store or the fans at Jackson with heat races, B-Mains, and the 50-lap MSCCS main event on tap. As many fans and drivers know, when it is cool outside, the racing at Jackson is hot.
