Huge Practice Session Ready's
Cleveland Track For Opening Night

A large crowd of racefans attended the Wednesday night practice sessions at Cleveland Speedway. The testing sessions marked the first time raceteams had the opportunity to race around the dirt track since it's recent expansion of the back straight away during the off/winter months. Race teams like; Dale McDowell (1999 UDTRA Champion), Ray Cook (2000 "Show-Me 100" Winner), Jamie Perry (1999 Southern All-Star Champion), and defending "Shamrock 100" Winner Ricky Holland participated in the practice sessions, readying themselves for the next couple of weeks of racing events (the "Season Opener" & the S.A.S. "Shamrock Race") at the track. Many of the driver's commented, Wednesday night, about the difference the new track shape is making. Multiple grooves, higher speeds, and deeper entrances to the turns were among the discussions throughout the pit area. "It'll put a high groove to the track with greater straight away (both front & back) speeds." commented McDowell & Cook, both of whom teach the monthly racing school at the track.

The "Season Opener" race will be this Saturday night at Cleveland Speedway. Race teams are expected to converge on the track in efforts to ready themselves for the following weekends $5,000 to win, 6th Annual "Sonya's Used Cars" Southern All-Star series "Shamrock Race". Gates open Saturday afternoon at 4PM with racing getting under way with "Hot Lap" practicing beginning shortly after 6PM. More information can be obtained calling the track office at (423)479-8574 Monday - Friday & all day Raceday.
