WINSTON CUP STAR KEN SCHRADER SET FOR TEXAS UDTRA DEBUT

FORT WORTH-DALLAS (Feb. 28, 2001) - NASCAR Winston Cup star Ken Schrader will make his United Dirt Track Racing Association late model debut Wednesday night, March 28 in the Albertson's Spring Challenge at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track.

Schrader will be among a star-studded field in the opening event of RPM Week - Texas, a five-day speed celebration including three nights of dirt track racing combined with the Harrah's 500 weekend for the NASCAR Winston Cup and Busch Series on the 1.5-mile superspeedway.

Schrader will pilot the blue and white Federated Auto Parts GRT chassis in the Albertson's Spring Challenge on the four-tenths mile clay oval. The Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track event will be the first time Schrader has faced off against the UDTRA Pro DirtCar Series stars.

"Ken Schrader has never forgotten where he started his racing career and we are looking forward to seeing how he does against the best dirt late model drivers in the country," said speedway general manager Eddie Gossage. "Ken is one of the most popular NASCAR Winston Cup drivers and competing in events like this is a big reason why race fans like him so much."

The Albertson's Spring Challenge will offer the 75-lap feature winner a $15,000 prize plus contingency awards. Defending Texas UDTRA winner Dan Schlieper will attempt to make it two straight in the Lone Star State. UDTRA's 2000 champion, Scott Bloomquist, will be among the contenders with Billy Moyer, Wendall Wallace, Donnie Moran, Freddy Smith, Rick Eckert and Steve Francis.

Gates for the Albertson's Spring Challenge open at 5:00 pm on March 28 with practice sessions beginning at 5:30 pm and qualifying at 6:30 pm. The first heat will receive the green flag at 7:40 pm. Tickets are available at the ticket office, by calling (817) 215-8500 or online at www.texasmotorspeedway.com.
