ALBERTSON'S TO SPONSOR UDTRA DIRT TRACK EVENT
FORT WORTH-DALLAS (Feb. 27, 2001) - The next big event on the 2001 UDTRA Pro DirtCar Series for dirt late models will be the $15,000-to-win Albertson's Spring Challenge at Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track, Wednesday night, March 28. The announcement of the race sponsorship was made Monday by speedway and Albertson's food store representatives.
The Albertson's Spring Challenge will feature the nation's leading dirt late model drivers gunning for the rich top prize in the 75-lap feature around the four-tenths mile clay oval. Defending UDTRA champion Scott Bloomquist will lead the star-studded field that will include Arkansas' Billy Moyer, Wendell Wallace and Bill Frye, Ohio's Donnie Moran, Kentucky's Steve Francis, UDTRA point leader Rick Eckert from Pennsylvania, North Carolina's Freddy Smith and Dan Schlieper from Wisconsin, the winner of the inaugural UDTRA race at the Dirt Track in 2000.
"We are glad that Albertson's is joining the kickoff event of RPM Week - Texas," said Eddie Gossage, speedway executive vice-president and general manager. "We have enjoyed a great relationship with Albertson's in the past and are proud they are sponsoring the UDTRA program. These drivers put on a great race last year and we expect a repeat in the Albertson's Spring Challenge."
The Albertson's Spring Challenge will be a complete, one-night program including time trials, heat races, consolation races topped by a 75-lap feature.
