UTICA-ROME OPENER ONLY THREE SHORT MONTHS AWAY
VERNON, NY – In just three short months, Vernon’s New Utica-Rome Speedway will come to life for the greatly anticipated 40th anniversary season opener featuring a 40-lap special for the headline DIRT 358-Modifieds.
"Opening Day 2001", scheduled for Sunday May 6, promises to be an excellent kickoff for Utica-Rome’s 40th anniversary racing season. Along with the extra distance 40-lap DIRT 358-Modified feature, race fans will also see the DIRT Sportsman, DIRT Pro Stocks, Pure Stocks, and Slingshots in competition for the first time in the new season on the fast half-mile known as the "Action Track of the East".
Speedway management expects many of the top DIRT 358-Modified and Sportsman teams on the DIRT circuit to be on hand in preparation for the Sunoco Race Fuels 358-Modified Super DIRT Series 100 and the UPFO "Dig Safely" Sportsman Super DIRT Series 30 scheduled for Sunday, May 13. For many of the teams, Opening Night will serve as an excellent tune up for the kick off of the Super DIRT Series.
For all regular shows during the 2001 season, the gates will open at 4pm and racing will begin promptly at 6pm, with Slingshot heats slated to go off at 5:45pm.
You can be a part of the "Fastest Family Fun in Central New York" this summer at the New Utica-Rome Speedway. Weekly racing action begins on May 6 and runs each and every Sunday through September 16. It will be Opening Night before you know it!
