UDTRA ADDS 3RD ANNUAL LOUISIANA BAYOU BASH TO THE 2001 SCHEDULE
WOODSTOCK, GA - United Dirt Track Racing Association officials have
announced an addition to the UDTRA Pro DirtCar Series 2001 schedule with
3rd Annual Louisiana Bayou Bash at Thunder Valley Speedway in Glenmora,
on March 24, and at The New Leesville 171 Speedway in Leesville, LA on March
Each event will feature a $10,000-to-win 50-lap main event that will lead
into the $15,000-to-win 75-lap UDTRA Pro DirtCar event at Texas Motor
Speedway in Fort Worth, TX. These three events will give the top Dirt Late
Model drivers in the country a very lucrative three events in five days.
The activities at Thunder Valley Speedway will begin with a March 23
practice session to give the UDTRA Pro DirtCar competitors an opportunity
try out the reconfigured 3/8-mile clay oval.
"About the middle of last season, we put new clay down on the track and
reconfigured turns three and four," track owner Jackie Thacker said. "The
track is more D-shaped now, and I really think it has made the racing a
The March 23 practice session is scheduled for 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., and it
will be followed by Thacker's traditional Cajun Cookout for the UDTRA Pro
DirtCar teams and their fans.
On March 24, the pit gate will open at 11 a.m., with the front gates
opening at 2 p.m. Hot laps are set for 6 p.m., with time trials at 7 p.m.

The New Leesville 171 Speedway will be a new venue for the UDTRA Pro
DirtCar Series. The second event of the Bayou Bash on the ¼-mile clay oval
will be a twilight Sunday show with the pit gate opening at 11 a.m., the
front gate at 1 p.m., hot laps at 4 p.m., qualifying at 5 p.m., and racing
scheduled for 6 p.m.
Along with the UDTRA Pro DirtCars, the UMP Modifieds and the Super Stocks
will also be in action. The New Leesville 171 Speedway is located just
