March 18th Gasport Int'l Speedway will hold a general meeting at
the Reeb House located 1/2 East of the Speedway on Highway 3. Drivers
should be present as schedule will be handed out, track and DIRT
memberships and rules for all classes will be available. The meeting
will take place at 12 noon. Also up for discussion will be a progress
report on the point fund by R.P.M. the Racers Point Monies Committee.
Another topic will be the use of the AMB automated scoring system by the
Pro Stocks, Sportsman, and 358 Modfieds.
Gasport Speedway will kick off their 44th season on Sunday April
29 with a practice day for all classes which will include the Mini
Stocks, Pro Modfieds, Street Stocks, The DIRT Pro Stocks, Sportsman, and
358 Modifieds. The practice session will go from 11AM untill 4PM. The
2001 Grand opener will take place on Sunday May 6th and it will be twin
features for the Sportsman along with a regular 5 division program. Many
exciting events will take place at Gasport in 2001 with the highlight
being the return of the 358 Modifieds as they will run 7 shows. The Mod
Squad wll have a practice session during the May 13 program along wth
Time trials to take place on May 27th which will set their lineups for
their return on June 17.
Besides the Sportsman twin features the Mini Stocks will run
twin features on May 13th. The WAR class Women Are Racing will compete
twice this year and that will be May 13th in Street Stocks and on June
10 they will run in the Mini Stocks. Mechanic races events will take
place on June 3rd for the Street Stocks and July 29th for the Mini
Stocks. Syracuse Qualifiers will take place for the Sportsman on May
20th and 2 for the 358 Modifieds on July 1st and July 29th. The will not
be tour events but will send a Gasport representative to Syracuse.
Gasport will have the DIRT Pro Stock Tour race scheduled for June 24th
and for the Sportsman on July 29th.
Returning for 2001 will be the Mid State Vintage Car Club on
June 24th and the Canadian Historical Society Antique Car Club on June
3rd. 5 demolition derbies will take place with 3 events for the 4
cylinder minis an 2 for the full size cars. Also 2 fan Appreciation
Autograph sessions will take place at Gasport on June 24th and September
2 which will give the fans a great chance to meet and greet their
