Major Enhancements Await All for Biggest Race Ever at Green Valley Speedway
Glencoe, AL-Race fans and drivers will be greeted with a huge surprise when they roll down Green Valley Road February 24th and 25th and see what can only be described at The New Green Valley Speedway. Successful Anniston area businessman Bill Teneyck purchased the 3/8ís mile clay oval in November after previously leasing the track for the past two years; and immediately began a massive upgrade of the track facilities. Improvements are quickly falling in place as the Speedway prepares for the most lucrative event ever held at the Glencoe based track. Green Valley Speedway will hold the 2nd Annual Southern All Stars Bama Bash featuring record-breaking prize money and posted awards on the line for participants. The finest field of drivers ever assembled at the track, are expected be on hand vying for the $15,000 top prize for the season opening Championship event for the Southern All Star Super Late Model 2001 Tour.
Both drivers and fans will have new features that benefit all. The fans will be the major recipients in the current phase of the renovation. Fans will have access new bleachers in the main grandstand along with new trackside bleacher seating in turns 1 and 2, plus improved trackside parking in turns 3 and 4 for automobiles. Seating capacity will now be over 6,000 and plus the addition of the new infield admission for fans. The new infield admission area will be available due to the fact that all racecars and racecar haulers will now be parked outside the track in the new pit parking area. Not only will the empty infield allow fans the opportunity to watch the races from the infield but also it will provide a clear view of the track for all in the stands and trackside without any infield obstructions.
Other improvements include increased parking for both participants and fans. There is also a new Motor home and camping area under construction for the fans and competitors, which will be available for major events such as the Bama Bash and subsequent special events throughout the season. The facility boundaries are now fenced as well. Other improvements include a brand new scoreboard and message board, an improved sound system, and additional track lighting that are expected to be in place by race time.
The Southern All Star Bama Bash will be staged on Saturday and Sunday February 24th and 25th with Qualifying activities on the 24th and Last Chance Qualifiers and Main events on the 25th.
