HAGERSTOWN, MD - - - HAGERSTOWN SPEEDWAY RELEASES 2001 SCHEDULE
Promoter Frank Plessinger has put the final touches on the 2001
for the Hagerstown Speedway. The new schedule is loaded with exciting
for every race fan, young and old.
The Hagerstown Speedway will begin its 54th season with the East
Opener for the late models and the modifieds on Sunday afternoon,
25th. The doubleheader program will get underway at 1 P.M. with gates
at 11 A.M.
The modifieds will be featured in four of the first seven programs.
Following the opener, the big block modifieds will join the late models
March 11th. Then two weeks later on Sunday, March 25th, the small block
modifieds will join the late models in a twin-bill. Then on March 31st,
DIRT Advance Auto Parts 2000 Modified Super Dirt Series kicks off its
Series at the Hagerstown Speedway under the lights in a 100-lapper
$6,000 to the winner. The modifieds return the end of the season for the
Octoberfest 350 on October 27-28.
Other highlights include two visits by the Pennzoil World of Outlaws
May 19th and July 28th. The super sprints will also be part of the
Octoberfest on October 27-28.
The U.S. Hot Rod Monster Truck Nationals will make its annual visit
July 20-21 and
two-wheel excitement of the AMA Grand National Motorcycles will return
Hagerstown for two dates, June 16th and August 11th in the 2001 season.
The STARS Late Models will make three appearances again in 2001 for
Stanley Schetrompf Memorial on April 28th , the 54th Anniversary on July
and the 20th Annual Conococheague 100 on August 18th. The Mid-Atlantic
Model Series (MACS) returns to Hagerstown for the Shorty Bowers/Bull
Memorial on April 14th and the Richard Bonebrake Memorial on May 26th.
United Dirt Track Racing Association returns to Hagerstown for the
Silver Cup Nationals on July 14th.
The Fall part of the schedule has the Hub-City National 150 under
lights for the first time in 27 years on September 21-22. The
350 will round out the year on October 27-28 with $10,000 going to the

HAGERSTOWN, MD - - - LITTLE MISS HAGERSTOWN SPEEDWAY CONTEST
The search is on for a special young lady between the ages of 5-11
represent the Hagerstown Speedway throughout the 2001 season.
The 2001 Little Miss Hagerstown Speedway Pageant will take place on
Friday night, February 25th, at the Hagerstown Speedway Race-A-Rama in
Valley Mall in Hagerstown, MD.
Young ladies interested in becoming a contestant should contact the

The Little Miss Hagerstown Speedway will represent the speedway in
Victory Lane in special events and receive special gifts including two
passes for her parents to attend all Hagerstown Speedway events.
One of the first responsibilities of the newly crowned queen will be
the award ceremonies on the final night of the Hagerstown Speedway
Race-A-Rama. The annual car show begins on Thursday, February 22nd and
on Saturday, February 24th.
Hagerstown will open its 2001 racing season the next afternoon,
February 25th with the late models and modifieds. Race time is 2 P.M.
