French Grimes Keynotes Hesston Speedway Awards Banquet
National racing innovator and authority French Grimes of French Grimes Racing Systems in Madison, VA, is the featured speaker for the Seventh Annual Hesston Speedway Awards Banquet Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Lakemont Casino in Altoona.
The deadline for reservations is Jan. 13, and more than 200 are expected at the annual celebration of the region's top stock car drivers. Five division champions and the track's top 50 drivers will share in trophies, prizes and points money.
The Year 2000 Hesston Champions are Dwayne Taneyhill of Bellwood in the Stultz & Brown Late Models, Judi Bates of Barto in the Metzler Auto Sprints, John Bookwalter of Mill Creek in the Hesston V8 Street Stocks, Ronald Beam of Petersburg in the Metzler Bros. Transport Pure Stocks, and Wayne Bunn of Mill Creek in the Cars Unlimited V8 Hobby Stocks.
Grimes is a founder of the Virginia Sprint Series and the developer of the spec (specification) 305 engine used in the Metzler Sprint division that will be racing alternate weeks at Hesston and at Path Valley in the 2001 season. He serves as a consultant to many top national race teams and operates a complete horsepower development and testing facility.
