Heartland Sprints to Run Weekly at Grove Creek
A new affordable class of sprint cars has been put together and will run on a weekly basis at Grove Creek Raceway.
The class is intended to be an entry-level sprint class with the emphasis on keeping the costs down and allowing drivers to gain experience before moving up into the WISSOTA Sprint ranks.
The cars will run a Chevrolet 305 engine and will be carbureted instead of injected. Drivers will have the option of running a WISSOTA wing or a smaller, IMCA style wing. The tire rule is open as long as the right rear durometers 50.
"I feel that this class will allow drivers who compete in the Modified, Super Stock or even Street Stock class to move into a full open wheel class without spending much more money", says promoter Greg Johnson. He goes on to say, "I know there are lots of drivers who dream of running a sprinter but the cost keeps them out of it. Here's a way to run a sprint car and if you can excel at it, move up to the WISSOTA cars".
This class will run in addition to the WISSOTA classes and Creek Stocks, which already compete at Grove Creek Raceway. Next season's start time has been moved to 7:00.
