ALL RACERS ARE WELCOME TO COMPETE IN NEW THREE-QUARTER
MIDGET DIVISION AT WALL STADIUM
-- FIRST RACE SET FOR TURKEY DERBY
WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Wall Stadium officials have announced that the
paved oval will host its own Three-Quarter Midget division with the first
for November 24 during day one activities of Turkey Derby XXVII. The
Midgets will then race at the speedway on a limited schedule in 2001 with
13 events on the slate.
Rules and purses are now being assembled with the main goal being to
many racers as possible to compete. It has also been announced that Neptune
and Developement, already a strong supporter of the speedway's Modified stock
division and the track's scoring pylon, will back the season-long point fund
for the open
"We are excited about offering our own Three-Quarter Midget division,"
Nicol, Wall Stadium's manager, said. "Our officials will oversee the events
Midgets will have their own technical inspector.
"I want to make it clear that we will welcome as many racers to this
possible. We welcome racers from all clubs to compete. If the various clubs
want to use
our races to offer championship points to their club members that is fine. We
will offer our
own points and point fund, as well.
"Ever since the Pinebrook Speedway closed, many enthusiasts of
Midget racing have said that the class needs a home track to survive and
Stadium is giving the division just that."
Even before the announcement about the new Neptune Research Three-Quarter
Midget division, Turkey Derby XXVII was already earning a lot of interest
of the action at the shore speedway. Three 50-lap main events will be
contested by the
Neptune Research Modified stock cars, with not only purse money being paid
main event, but also bonus money being posted by Sunoco Racing Fuels and
Fuels to the top overall finishers.
Wall Stadium's regular divisions will not be forgotten in all the
Hoosier Tire Pro Stocks, Garage Door Express Street Stocks and the Monmouth
Equipment Truck Series racers will see action in twin main events during the
while the Weiss' Boots & Apparel Legend Cars will compete in a special 30-lap
All Turkey Derby action takes place during the daylight hours on Friday,
November 24, and Saturday, November 25.
