WEST VIRGINIA MOTOR SPEEDWAY READY TO ROAR TO LIFE
WITH THE 20TH ANNUAL DIRT TRACK WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
The hills of West Virginia are ready to roar to life with the $50,000 to Win
20th Annual DIRT TRACK WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP on October 21st and 22nd at West
Virginia Motor Speedway. Only a few days remain until the largest
motorsports event in the state of West Virginia begins with that famous
racing command, "gentlemen start your engines."
Mountaineer hospitality is once again extended to the finest racecar drivers
and race fans from all over the world. The DIRT TRACK WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
has proven to be a "must see" race over it's
storied 19 year history. The move to the ultra modern West Virginia Motor
Speedway in 1999 was a great success for all in attendance. The 2000
version is set to make the 20th event truly historic.
Nationally known drivers pre-entered to date include Billy Moyer, Scott
Bloomquist, Freddy Smith, Mike Balzano, Steve Shaver, Rick Eckert, Wendell
Wallace, Davey Johnson, Steve Francis, Donnie Moran, Tim Hitt, and Bill
Frye. In 1999, 138 Late Models challenged for the coveted DTWC title. On
October 21st and 22nd the absolute best Late Model drivers in the world are
expected to compete for the 2000 DIRT TRACK WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP CROWN.
Gates open at 9am on October 21st with Time Trials scheduled to begin for
the Late Models at 1pm. Followed by 6-20 lap Heat Races for the Late
Models. The Modifieds and Street Stocks will complete their qualifying
events after the Late Models have finished their events for the day. Then
the party begins with a live band entertaining the finest race fans in the
On Sunday October 22nd, gates open at 9am and racing begins at 1pm.
Consolation Races for the Late Models begin the program followed by the
Modified Consolation Races then the Street Stock Consolation Races. Up next
the $50,000 to Win, 100 lap, 20th Annual DIRT TRACK WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP.
After crowning the winner of 20th DIRT TRACK WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, the
Modifieds will take to the 5/8th-mile speedplant in their $2000 to Win main
event. Wrapping up another historic weekend will be the $1500 to Win Stock
Mooney Star will again be directing on track proceedings for the DIRT TRACK
WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP. A change in restart procedures has been adopted;
Doublewide restarts will be used throughout the weekend in all racing
divisions. The use of Doublewide restarts in some areas of the country have
proven to be very popular with the fans and drivers. Doublewide restarts
will take the competition and excitement of this DIRT TRACK WORLD
CHAMPIONSHIP to the next level.
Admission at the gate on race weekend is; 2-Day General Admission $45, 2-Day
Pit Pass $55, Children ages 6-11 $10.00 and under age 6 FREE. Primitive
camping is available on the speedway grounds for $20 for the duration of
your stay. The rain date for the 20th Annual DIRT TRACK WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
is November 4th and 5th.
