Late Models Kick Off Full Fall Season at Path Valley Speedway Park
The return of the 358 late models Sept. 15 kicks off a full fall season
of special races Friday nights at Path Valley Speedway Park in Spring
Run, PA. All races are points races for the micro sprints, mini stocks,
four-cylinder thunder cars and V8 street stocks through Oct. 6.
The 305 sprints that have finished their season at Hesston are scheduled
back at Path Valley two more times on Sept. 22 and Oct. 6 and any
Virginia Sprint Series cars that want to join them are welcome.
The 358 limited late models are invited to Path Valley for three more
features. They are scheduled on Sept. 15 and 29 and again for the huge
final Friday race night on Oct. 6. The limited lates from tracks like
Bedford, Hesston, Thunder Valley and Silver Springs and the late model
sportsmen from tracks like Hagerstown with bigger engines and a legal
two-barrel carb are all included.
The Legends Cars have just been added to the schedule for Sept. 22. They
are already schedule on Sept. 15 and for the last race of all on Oct. 7.
That is the Legends Fun Day date and a car show for antique and classic
cars and street rods, a flea market, carnival and more is being planned.
Legends Cars from all over the east are expected. The Vintage Car Club
is expected for the show and the afternoon races.
The karts race at Path Valley on Sept. 16 and that show will feature a
Maxxis Tires give-away and double points, and the points race will be
followed by a motor race. Originally scheduled for two points races, the
track has cut it to one double points race at the request of the kart
teams. Winners racing on Maxxis tires will be eligible for a drawing for
the tire giveaway, and the motor race, for a new Briggs power plant, is
open to all the karts that can make a 340 pound weight limit. This is
the final kart race of the season.
The motorcycles have the last word this season at Path Valley. A
Motorcycle Short Track and AHRMA Regional race is set this Saturday,
Sept. 9. The bikes will be back for a two-day show on Sept. 23 and 24
and the Sunday race will be a TT (Tourist Trophy) over the infield
course. The final bike race is Oct. 14 as a Motorcycle Short Track and
AMA District 7 Regional feature.
Path Valley's awards banquet is Nov. 11 at the Pleasant Hall Fire
Company's big new banquet room in Pleasant Hall, just past Roxbury. With
a capacity of some 500, this year's banquet will be combined for both
the Friday night car and sprint drivers and the Saturday kart riders.
Doors open at 4 p.m. for the hot buffet catered by Dodies.
The early meal leaves more time for the combined awards program. Tickets
for the Saturday night racers cost $25 and for the kart kid teams, $20.
There will be plenty of door prizes too, and the music starts about 9
p.m. with DJ Phantom Shadow. Dancing and adult beverages will be in
order from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tickets are available at the track.
The smooth, steep Path Valley banks and wide turns are now under the
management of Two Wheel Promotions, and Jack and Vicki Flowers, John
Winsett and John Lewis IV now own the track. Micro sprints, V8 Street
Stocks, mini-stocks, four-cylinder thunder cars and guest classes like
the INEX-sanctioned Legends Cars, the Dwarf cars and 600 micros race
