POINT CHAMPIONSHIPS ON THE LINE SATURDAY NIGHT SEPTEMBER 2 AT ORANGE
COUNTY FAIR SPEEDWAY

MIDDLETOWN, NY (Aug. 25)....Saturday night, September 2 will be the final
point meet of the 2000 racing season at Orange County Fair Speedway. And
with the track point champion-ships on the line, all five racing divisions
will be in action. Adding to the evening's excitement, both the Modified
and 358 Modified divisions will run extra-distance feature races.

In the headline Modified division, two Middletown natives, Frank
Jashembowski and 1998 track champion Chuck McKee, are so close in the
standings that the title won't be decided until the final checkered flag.
Saturday's Modified feature will be 35 laps instead of the usual 30-lap
distance.

The small-block 358 Modifieds will also run an extended feature, 30 laps
instead of the normal 25 circuit of the big five-eighths-mile hard clay
speedway. This race promises to be a toss-up, with four drivers---Andy
Bachetti (Sheffield, Massachusetts), Gerry Higbie (Middletown), Tom
Hindley (Fair Oaks), and Joe Winne (Kingston)---separated by only11 points
and gunning for the championship.

While the championship point chases in the track's other divisions aren't
nearly as close, all the drivers will be out to register top finishes as a
wrap-up to the six-month-long racing season. Chris Shultz (Holmes) has a
comfortable lead in the DIRT Sportsman division, while Tom Kuck (Mahopac)
should emerge with the Novice Pro Stock crown. Jamie McGannon (Pomona)
tops the Rookie Pro Stock class, with Ron Irvin (Hyde Park) leading in
Pure Stock Points. Both Shultz and Kuck are seeking their second Orange
County championships in their respective divisions. Shultz is the
defending DIRT Sportsman titlist, while Kuck won the Novice Pro Stock
championship in 1989.

With more than 24 qualifying and feature races on the evening's program,
action begins promptly at 6:30 P.M. WLR Construction and Torrisi Produce
are the night's co-sponsors. CARQUEST Auto Parts Stores is the track's
title sponsor.

Tickets for the September 2 race meet as well as the 39th Annual CARQUEST
Eastern States Weekend, October 20-22, are available during regular
business hours from the Speedway Office at 239 Wisner Avenue in
Middletown. For additional information, call 845-342-2573, or visit the
Orange County Fair Speedway web site on the Internet at www.ocfsmotorsports.com, or DIRT Motorsports' web site at www.dirtmotorsports.com.
