20th Annual Sharon Nationals
For immediate release... Aug. 20, 2000 Hartford, OH...
Ed Skillman and his crew are preparing the Sharon Speedway facility for the
biggest event of the season -- The 20th Annual Sharon Nationals over the
Labor Day Weekend. For the first time the nationals will be a three day
Friday, Sept 1, the MACS Late Model Series will tour the speedway for 30
laps and $5000 to win. Lynn Geisler and Jim Yoder are in close contention
for the points title. Since Sharon has only held one other Late Model race
in 2000 this will set up neutral turf for all the competitors and provide
exciting Late Model racing for the fans. The Stock cars are also on the
schedule for Friday night. The winners share of the Stock Car purse is $500.
The All Star Circuit of Champion Sprints will invade the Hartford oval for
both Saturday and Sunday nights activities. Saturday's feature will be 30
laps for $5000 to win and Sunday's winner will receive $10,000 for 40 laps.
Saturday will have two top divisions in competition. The Russ King Memorial
for V-8 Modifieds will sure please all of the open wheel fans. Rex King,
Russ' son is one of the hot contenders at the speedway in 2000 along with
Lou Blaney, Jim Weller, and John Braymer.
On Sunday along with the Sprints will be the Coy Brothers/York Triathlon
E-Mods. All features the entire weekend will pay lap money to the leader,
thanks to our fine sponsors.
Plans have been finalized for the Blaney two seater sprint car to be at all
three nights of the Nationals. Friday the car will be on display; Saturday
and Sunday several lucky fans will win exciting rides the driver for the
weekend - Lou Blaney.
As always, Camping is permitted at the Speedway. Camping on the Grandstand
side of the track will be $25 for the weekend. Free camping is available
across the road and in Eckert's field.
