Greetings to all. I am new to this site. It is pretty cool. I have been a life long race fan. After my wife bought me a trip to the RPDE in Atlanta, I had to go racing. It looks like I am gong to purchase a mustang mini-stock. This car won the track championship at one track last year and it is in second place at another track this year. I am crewing for the car this year and the current driver is looking to move up in class. He has been very healpful. Minor sponsorship is already taken care of. Does anybody out there have any advice that can help me in my quest? I hope to begin racing next spring

Only believe half of what you hear, and all that you see. Most racers will tell you enough to run right behind them but not enough to get around them. We're funny that way. But seriously, you'll have the best times and the worst times of your life in a race car. It literally takes blood, sweat and tears. But I couldn't think of anything else I'd rather do on Sat. night.

Good luck!

Oh Yeah, This was my first year and I have only been able to race a handful of times. What a rush. Racing is almost as good as ... I can't wait for next year already when I will be able to run the full season. Even when I am not able to race it is all I think about. Good Luck

What a weekend! The car that I am going to purchase ran twice this weekend. On Friday, at Memphis Motor Sports Park, we were running well when there was a major pile-up. The car that I will be purchasing, hit the brakes and got sidways. He was hit and the car rolled 4 times and landed on its side. It was then hit again, in the roof. This rolled the car back onto its wheels. All of the sheet metal on the right side of the car was gone. My buddy fired the car and went on to finish fifth in the feature. Saturday brought alot of work, including new sheet metal and 2 new additional support bars for the roll cage. All told, about six hours of work. Then it was off to Milan Motor Sports Park. One of our buddies carborator was giving him fits. Suddenly, a pretty good fire broke out. At first, I thought about roasting some marshmellows, but then I decided it would be best to put out the fire. That car ended up running pretty good. Anyway, my buddy drew a really crappy starting position for the heat race. I noted that the car was not handling real well. He almost put it in the wall. As it turns out, he was battling a stuck throtle. Even with this major problem we managed a fourth place heat race finish. We were able to correct the problem and we made some other adjustments. We were going to have to start the feature from the outside of the fifth row. Alot of work was going to have to be done to get into the money. We ran a strong race and managed a fourth place finish. Considering what we went through this weekend, we considered this a major victory.

I would like to hear some other stories from this past weekend

Go to "The Green Flag" under mini fanatics. You will be able to read some of our stories. It's nice to see more and more racers coming to this site and mini racing in general. Good luck in your endevors. Angi and rebell are exactly right. you will have the best times in a racecar and the worst of times. I sometimes sit and dream "is it all worth it", and then I wake up and I say to my self "**** YA" lol. IF YOUR SIDEWAYS YOU GOTTA TURN RIGHT. Peace

Go to www.parkercarburetion.com and take a look. If you will give me a call at 704.482.7588 I'll be glad to help you any way I can. I'm not trying to sell you a thing but in several areas I believe I can save you a lot of time, money and heartache and will gladly do so.

If you have doubts about calling me just let me know. I'll provide email addresses of racers that will tell you this is an honest offer. Hope to hear from you!

In the meantime, if you have specific questions in the areas of carburetion, ignition, spark plugs and engine tuning, just post them here.

Earl....as much as you use this site.....and you haven't got a link to The DIRT Forum.....shame, shame, shame.

I saw on your site where you helped a team that was sponsored by Johnny Case out of Arkansas....Tim Arnold. Very interesting.

THIS IS MY FIRST YEAR AT RACING AND I CAN TELL YOU THE TWO MOST ASKED QUESTONS WHEN SOMEONE FINDS OUT YOU RACE IS HAVE YOU WON ANY RACES AND HOW MUCH MONEY HAVE YOU WON?THE WAY I ANSWER IS, NO I HAVE NOT WON A RACE YET I'M JUST HAPPY TO FINISH, AND IF YOUR IN IT TO MAKE MONEY YOU MIGHT AS WELL SET IN THE STANDS.I GUESS THE ONE THING THAT STANDS OUT IN MY YEAR IS ONE NIGHT AFTER WE RAN OUR HEAT RACE ME AND MY WIFE AND SON WERE SETTING IN THE PIT STANDS WATCHING THE OTHER HEAT RACES AND TWO YOUNG BOYS CAME UP AND ASKED IF I RACED . I SAID YES . THEN THEY ASKED IF THEY COULD HAVE MY AUTOGRAPH. SO I GAVE IT TO THEM AND ASKED THEM IF THEY HAVE EVER SET IN A RACE CAR. THEY SAID NO . I TOLD THEM AFTER THE HEAT THEY COULD COME BY AND SIT IN MINE .WIFE AND SON SAID DADS FIRST AUTOGRAPH AND LOOK AT HIS HEAD SWELL.HA HA I'VE LEARNED YOU HAVE TO KEEP A COOL HEAD AND CONTROL TEMPERS. I'VE SEEN MANY A DRIVERS BANNED THIS YEAR AND SOME MEAN FIGHTS. IT'S AN AWSOME FEELING !!!!

greg youre exactly right. it has to be for the fun cause youre not going to get rich in sat night racing. it is neat when some kid ask for your autograph and heck yea it makes your head swell a little bit. you wouldnt be juman if it didnt. my wife says that im addicted to the racing fuel smell. and i have to admit it does get my hair to standing up on the back of my neck. and there is no drug that can make you feel that adrenaline like racing. a couch potatoe will never know the feeling. i'm thru preaching now but dang this racing is fun.
