okay, we'll hold the checkered for awhile. we're running dirt in alabama. sometimes it good clay but most often it's just red dirt like at louisville last night. we went over to mississippi last night and kinda had a rough night. sonin law rolled his toyota but come out with a rebel yell. adrenaline was pumping but he's feeling it today. track was greasey and if you got out of the groove you were in trouble. man do we need rain. also welcome to anyone else who wants to run with us. three wide out of turn three. whew, that was close. what a race.

cars mostly okay. nothing a couple of big oak trees and a chain and abig come along cant handle. right front lower control arm took a shot froma low telephone pole cut off at the end of a fence. i think the soninlaw felt the sudden stop more than the roll over. he had a bad headache yesterday butis feeling better today. those toyotas are pretty tough. they bounce back quick. nothing a little elbow grease cant handle. only thing eh ruined two wheels and two american racer tires from my car. but i told him thats racing and its only money.

Have you guys ever seen that done in your neck of the woods? I'll let you know how it works.Don't let those tree huggers see you rap chains around them oak trees' they might pick-it your race shop. hey pro18, greenpeace ain't got nothing on us. we have to improvise around here. its hard to get anyone to help you out. all these body shops around here act like they cant help a racer out. getting sponsors is harder than pulling teeth. i told my wife its because there's not a track close by. we pull 60 to 100 miles just to race. gotta love it. ain't never heard of putting cotton seed on a race track but you know it might work. i wish we could get more action on this 4 cyl. site. maybe it will pick up. gotta go browse a few more sites. see ya.

welcome angi5w to the funnest site on this site. jammin just dont know that he created a monster 4 cyl site. and we dont care the more the merrier. this is not 4m where if you cross over you catch a lot of crap. here in west alabama we have a few tube frame 4cyl but they dont promote them right . they have brought them in and wanted to run them with our regular modifed 4 cyl and most of us raised a lot of hell. i think it would be a good class if run separate. matter of fact i wouldnt mind having one. a frind of mine has one that is super fast but it sits in the garage most of the time. they wont travel to arace. but they would have to go two states as far as i know. anyone out there want to race? just join on in.

Just in from the track and man what a night. That cotton seed hull made the clay so sticky that there were big hunks flying over the fence into to the grandstands, they had to take two fans to the hospital. I got hit in the pit stands watching the super street race. Those Late modle guys are all freaking out. Those GRT cars and Rayburn chassic will tear the place too pices. But there was'nt any dust. We did okay dents no crashed cars and no WIN just 5th out of 19 cars. How did the rest of our group do ? Let me know one of us must of kicked some butt, Later

Thanks for asking. I did pretty good. Fri. ran 3rd in heat, and 3rd in the feature. Sat. night I ran 5th in the heat and 3rd in the feature. $230.00 for the weekend. Not bad, now I can afford 2 new tires. By the way, we prefer the Hoosiers over the Amer. Racers.

Hubby didn't do so good. Fri night broke in the heat and Sat, he drove another car and won the heat and got taken out the first lap in the feature.

There are only 2 tracks around here that run the Modifieds. St. Tammany Speedway in Hickory. La. and Miss. Motorsports Park in Gulfport, Miss. It's the same 6-10 cars at both tracks and it's killin' us. But it's really fun to drive and they are very fast. We're only about a second off of the late model times. Sometimes less than that.
Hope everybody had fun this weekend!

This is a tube frame car with a quickchange rear end. Coilovers on all four corners. Ten inch. wheels and Hoosier tires. WE are going pavement racing now. So wish us luck. My wife hopes we have'nt bit off more than we can crew, so to speek. But were going for it. Later

That sounds like our cars, but we don't run quick changes. But we do run coil overs all the way around, 10" wheels, Hoosiers and weigh 1950. The only thing that's really teched after a race is the carb. and weight. Other than that we really don't have too many rules. It makes the tech experience much nicer. There isn't too much to worry about.

I don't know about that pavement stuff though. Sounds boring to me. LOL!

Believe it or not one of the cars that runs with us was a UMP modified. They just shortened it a little. Another one ran with the UMP's one night a few weeks ago and kicked their butts. He timed in pole, won the heat from the rear and won the feature. We've been seriously thinking about putting a 4 cyl in a UMP. If the weight difference isn't too much I think it would run good.
We're thinking of getting a UMP too next year.

I wish we had a class like Angi5w runs in then we would have the best of both worlds. I think the dirt late modle body look cool. We have a guy who runs an IMCA with a 2300 in it. He smokes those V8's in the corners buttttt down towards the start/finish line they fly by. Although he is like 9th in track points. We run our frist pavement show tomarrow.I hope were ready. take care everyone and good luck this weekend.

good morning everyone, flew back in lastnight on the corperate jet. boy what a way to travel. but am glad to be back home. glad to hear everyone done pretty good at the race track last week. pro, racing is racing and as long as youre racing thats what matters. i've never drove on asphalt but a friend of mind that got me really started in racing was racing asphalt at birmingham fairgrounds raceway which is 5/8 mile and i got him to try dirt and he now is strickly dirt. he says the difference is on pavement you come out of a turn and you got time to look at the tach and gauges and adjust your bootie and wave to people in the stands while smoking a cigarette.lol. but he says which i know, on dirt you dont have time to tearoff a tearoff. but the main objection is having fun and going fast. i still dont have my cars ready but im going to a big race in guin ala tonight to help pit for my buddies. i got to look at my funds and get me some new wheels and tires. speaking of that could someone tell me where i could get the hoosier tires. ive been running the american racers and im not quite happy with them. the tracks arund here are open on the kinds of tires you can run but make width rules. so i thinking of changing brands if the cost is comparable. i sure would like to set my but in angs car. sounds like it would be fun to drive. hey 4s how come you dont have a coonass accent on the computer?lol well look i know this post is long but ive been away from the computer for a week. had to make up for it.
every one be careful tonight and race like you stole it. i seen that phrase on the conmputer somewhere and i thought it was pretty cool. keep um on all fours.

4s is right, we are just picking. As long as it's stock cars and you don't defect to something terrible like drag racing. LOL
It is fun to run these cars, but it's a dying class down here. There's only about 6-8 of us that run every week. Rumor is one of the track owners is wants to talk to us tonight and most of us think he's going to cut the class. I hope not, cause that's my favorite of the 2 tracks. But I'm seriously thinking about putting a 2.3l in a UMP car.
I'll lose my investment in the frame and suspension parts but I can keep what Ive got in the motor. I don't think I'll have to worry about getting claimed! Nobody wants a 4 cyl.LOL

Good luck everybody!

We get to the track at one and sign in they hot lap three classes for three and a half hour. Then we set in the pits another hour and then time in.There were eleven cars there and we timed in tenth, finished tenth in the heat and tenth in the 25 lapper. I think I made a mistake? But it sure is clean and smooth but it is the crappest I've done in years.WE will try once moore. How did everone else do? Later
