tell them a 68 250 straight 6 another way is to just make a longer t/o bearing I have heard of guys doing this with great success. Just take a old one and cut the lobe offright next to the bearing and weld it on your other one. Bobby

WELL I CAUGHT **** TRYING TO PUT THIS T/O BEARING ON. (THIS IS LONG SORRY)
1ST I FOLLOWED THE DIRECTIONS IN THE CHILTON ALL THE WAY THROUGH EXCEPT FOR REMOVING THE BELLHOUSING (THE BOOK SAY'S DO IT) I JUST PRYED THE RELEASE ARM OF THE BALL SOCKET SLIDE IT OUT, PUT THE NEW T/O ON THE ARM, SLID IT BACK OVER THE SHAFT AND POPED IT BACK ON THE BALL.
WHEN I RE-SEEDED THE TRANS TO ENGINE I PULLED ON THE RELEASE ARM IT DID NOT SEEM TO HAVE THE PRESURE/SPRING IT SHOULD HAVE. I HOOKED THE CABLE UP AND PRESS ON THE CLUTCH- AND EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS SLIGHT PRESURE IT WAS VERY LIGHT (DID NOT FELL RIGHT) I COULD NOT START ENGINE AND CHECK IT BECAUSE I HAVE THE FRONT END TOUR DOWN TO CHANGE SOME SEALS.
HERE'S THE BOTTOM LINE AND MY QUESTION FOR BOBBY??(OUR ANY ONE W/ ADVICE) WHY DOES THE BOOK SAY PULL THE BELL HOUSING?? AND SHOULD THERE BE MORE PRESURE THERE AS I MANUALY PULL ON THAT RELEASE ARM?? I'VE BEEN TOLD PERHAPS I DID NOT GET THAT ARM BACK ON THE BALL SOCKET CORRECTLY--AND THAT MAY BE WHY THE BOOK SAY'S PULL THE HOUSING OFF.?? ANY IDEAS
ONE MORE THING, AFTER THE ABOVE RESULTS I GOT A CASE OF THE A-- // TOUR IT ALL APART (THE SAME WAY) PUT MY STOCK FLYWHEEL IN AND T/O BEARING (THE SAME WAY) AND ENDED UP WITH THE SAME RESULTS AS ABOVE.. SO I'M AT GROUND ZERO HERE,, ANY TIP'S???? THX MUCH

I would say that you bent them arms and it is letting it slide around. I have done that before and it lets the arm slide of the pivot point. I am no expert though so that is my.02

HEY THX, I'M TAKING A HALF DAY OFF AND GOING TO GET BACK ON IT IN ABOUT AN HOUR, ARE YOU THINKING THE WHOLE RELEASE ARM MAY BE BENT OR THE TWO SMALL SPRING ARMS THAT HOLD THE BEARING IN PLACE?? ALSO ANY LAST MIN. TIPS FOR THE FIX?? THX AGAIN, HAVE A GOOD RUN THIS WEEKEND , AND HOPEFULLY I'LL GET OUT THERE GOOD or BAD.

I have cut out the slot for the arm to go foward more I used a rotory file for this I cut about a half and inch. The only thing you need to watch for to much travel and might have to make a stop. Bobby
