I am re-wiring my pinto for the new season. My starter relay has two small prongs. From what I recall both are positive currents (correct me if I am wrong please) one for the starter button and the other goes to power other stuff in the car. If I don't hook up the one that goes to power other hot stuff in the car what effect will that have on my system? I AM NOT SURE ABOUT ANY OF THIS SO IF YOU GUYS CAN POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION THAT WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL!!!

If you are refering to what it will do to the starting system, nothing. If you hook up the other stuff to power else where. If I got the gist of your question?.

Thanks man. Yeah I got everything else powered from the switches, so I really dont need to run power from that I guess. I bought my car in the middle of last season and the wiring was a mess. I started the rewiring process and found that 70% of my wires ran to nothing or were cut. What I am really looking for is a diagram or something written that can help me out with what I am looking for.

What I have is this: From battery I got the a 4 ga wire going to the relay, and a 4ga going from relay to starter, a 14 ga going to my starter switch looped to my other switches, for fuel pump and ignition. Fuel pump is easy, just goes to the fuel pump right? From my ignition switch I am gonna run it to the coil (+) and to my guage lights. Then the Coil (-) goes to some box that has wires going to the bottom of the distributor. Where do I hook up to run the tach?
If I got something wrong can someone let me know please?

As for the starting system it should hurt nothing at all. When i bought my car and went to do all the wiring I was in the same boat there were wires everywhere i talked to the guy who did it all and he explained that he had a aftermarket msd ignition hidden so he had alot of false wires so noone would ever find it never know someone might have done the same thing to yours

If I am not mistaking. A red wire and white wire from the tach both go to power the black goes to ground and the green goes to the coil...Negative side I think...Hope I could help
