Ok, It's me again! thinking this over. Since this is a start-up class and it will be the first year, there is no way to go and see what has been running up front. My guess is that most of the cars will be front wheel drive. I really want to go with a rear wheel drive because I don't know how good of an idea it is to have the kid run front and when he turns 16 have to learn how to drive rear wheel. Maybe, it isn't that big of a switch?
We can't lock/weld the rear-end so if most are running front wheel, is this going to be detrimental?
I want him to be competitive but is it going to be a waste of track time running either one. I need some feedback from experience out there. Thanx

i ran a fwd nissan my first year FWD is hard to drive untill you find the set up but very fast when loose, the looser the faster i ran in top 7 or so every night with a stock 1300 runing aginst pumped 2300 some were fast some could not catch me. driving the two is not much diff. so if you want to be fast go with dodge omni fwd toe out r/r and car will be fast off the trailer

Another website with quite a few mini-stock and other classes of race cars is then open the various pages to find the forums. The tech forums are towards the bottom. There is also a classifieds section.

Some racers visit both sites "The Dirt Forum" and "4M" too.

I would go with a rw drive myself but to each his own. I have heard that frt whl drives are faster through the corner but it will be a lot in your setup. I would prob. get a mustang with a posi trac. Then you do not have a locked rear. But again jsut my .02 Bobby

Last year was the first year for mini-stocks at my home track. The fastest car all year was a acura integra. It is FWD and puts out 135hp stock. I have a RWD Celica, I was pretty competitive with a number of good finishes. Over all, I think you would probably be better off with a FWD car. They are easier to drive and you don't have to worry about being spun out.

Just my opinion...Chuck

Whats up with all these Acuras,Nissan's,Celicac's, it shouldnt even be called ministock anymore it should be called foreignstock. Before we know it we are going to have Honda's in the Street Stock class.

I agree with trey but you have to look at all the cars they have come out with in the last 15 years, very few rwd,s.Since they started to allow fwd at brewerton ny(dirt) there hasn't been 1 rear drive win in the last 2 years. Also at evans mills speedway and adirondack speedway (both in ny and both asph)if I got my records straight there hasn't been a rwd car that won at all.The cars that won havn't been all foreign either, escorts, omnis, some fwd chevys or neons, but most have been hondas ,acuras or volks and the neons.
