OK, I JUST PUT ON A HOLLEY 7448 CARB AND WIRED UP ALL THE IGNITION. I NOW HAVE FLAMES COMING OUT OF THE EXHAUST AND BACKFIRING OUT THE EXHAUST ON DECEL. I'M THINKING SOMETHING IS WRONG IN THE WIRING. I DON'T HAVE A RESISTOR BEFORE THE COIL, COULD THIS CAUSE IT. ALSO SHOULDN'T THERE BE A GROUND TO THE IGNITION MODULE OR DISTRIBUTOR I JUST HAVE THE BLACK WIRES FROM THE DIST AND MODULE TOGETHER. I USED THE DIAGRAM FROM RACER WALSH ALL EXCEPT THE RESISTOR. THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP.
P.S. Two things i can think of wrong would be i don't have it grounded to the frame and no line to the vaccum advance. i will be fixing these soon. but any other suggestions are needed please.

my guess is that you do not have the car timed right. What kind of distributer do you have. In a racing application you do not want that vac. line to the dist. You need to lock that plate open. Just my .02 Bobby

I'm sure someone else can tell you better. But it sounds like your running to rich "wrong jets maybe"and when you let off of it the extra fuel is going straight to the exhaust, causing the flames. you might post this in the engine post area, someone with more knowlege can tell ya.
