I was told that by leaning out the carb I would generate more power. BUT also that I chance ruining the engine. First question: how do I lean out the carb? Second question: How do I lean it out to where I don't ruin my engine. I am brand new to racing and I bought my car just like I am running it. I am running a 2300 ford and getting dusted on the straights, looking for ways to get more out of my engine for the least amount of $$$.

im gonna be in front someday

what has been done to the carb?a 500 holley is a lot of carb for a stock can start by changing your jet size and reading the plugs. We run a 40 over 2300 with a lot of head work done to it,the best results were with a 350 holley,we had it dyno'ed and got the best numbers with the smaller carb.

#1 run the holly 350 it is better than the 500
#2 is the motor stock ? has it been bored?
#3 yes you can lean it out some but dont over do it because you will melt a piston i here about alot of people saying they melted a piston and they ask why what im saying is there running to rich and have leaned the carb and melted a piston so if you dont know much about what your trying to do than have someone with a little more experiance help you. also are the pistons stock or aftermarket

I tore my engine apart yesterday... I am running 60 over pistons. The head is milled to the max and I am fixing to change to a "radical" mechanical cam. I showed my carb and plugs to a buddy at a machine shop. He said it looks like the mixture is pretty good for racing. Thanks guys for all of your help. I really dont understand. When I tore my engine apart and looked at everything it looks like my engine is maxing out the rules... the other cars (only 8 in my class and I am the only person that only owns one car) they make it look like I am standing still on the straights. I guess the experience they have make their cars go faster than mine does. Or maybe I got a different set of rules than they did. But thanks again everyone!!!
