Generally you want your shocks to compliment your springs. If you are running stock springs, you want to run shocks that are rated similar to stock. If you have stiffer springs, you want stiffer shocks, and so on. If you are getting into split valves, then it gets a little bit more complicated. Check out this link for a little help http://www.koni-na.com/ovalsetup.html .
