I want to run my exhaust from the lsft side over the bell housing andout of the right side of a Vega. I am using the 2.3 Vega engine. I will have to make the pipes myself.I have the old header to use the flange and part of the pipe. It runs out of the right side. Any suggestions on this?

Thanks. I don't think we have enough ground clearance to do that. The car is very low.

I think your main problem is going to be the eccesive length of the exhaust system. I recall seeing a Vega that some how modified the header to go up over the left frame rail and ran a short pipe out in the front part of the driver door. Had a heat shield inside the car. I think I've seen you race at NBS. Might race there some next year, Eastside dropped the mod. class!! Hope this helps--good racing!

Length could be a problem. The noise is pretty bad for the driver with the exhaust on the left side. A good set of earplugs helps some but it is still a problem.

Isn't Eastside combining the mini stock and mini modified classes? I was looking at the rules about the mini class. Are you going to run at the Bridge any next year?

Yes, that is the plan but pretty much stock rules. Mini-mod engines are out. No roller cams, no light clutches or flywheels, stock rods ect. ect. A lot of changes to make a mod legal. NBS is a long haul but a nice track. Waiting for their rules.

NB doesn't allow roller cams either. Unless the rules change, we have to run Goodyear tires. You can use a 500 Holly, header, HP cam, no porting/polishing of internal parts.Overbore .60. Pistons can't come out of bore. Head surfaced only, not cut way down. 7" wheels. Can't remember much else. I don't have the rules handy, they're in my shop.If you like, I'll email you a copy of last years rules. Let me know.

Thanks, I would like to see their rules, might not have to change as much to run there. They are going to fax me the new rules but haven't seen them yet. Talked to someone there, said they may consider the hoosiers. Do you think there is any difference between the goodyears and hoosiers? Would it create a problem in your opinion? Thanks again!!

I don't know how much difference there is between the tires. I have been told that the goodyears hold up longer but don't have as much traction. We would have to get tires if they change. If they stay with Goodyears, we have enough to run all year if none of them get torn up to bad. I,ll email you last years rules. They're in my shop so i will have to do it tomorrow.
