Ask to be put at the rear of your heat first of all. Tell them it is your first race and they will just shuffle you to the back. This is for your safety and everyone elses.
First of all...have fun. Second, try to finish the race. If you do well...then try to pass some cars if you can. If you can pass them all..take the win.

I would say start on the tail for sure,so you can kinda' get the feel of it.Some people win their 1st race, but most don't.Anything good is worth a little waiting, you have to learn the basics first and it may be a good idea to start in the back more then once.Best of luck to you, make sure of you're SAFTEY equipment, and above all HAVE FUN.let us know how you do at that 1st race..

See if your local tracks have any test and tune days where you can take your car and get a feel for it in a non-race setting. Of course, before you leave home make note of the settings of your car's chassis and try to set it in a "neutral" position. Make up log sheets and write down any important information. Head to the track and be sure to take a stop watch. Once you are comfortable driving the track, have someone time your laps and observe your line. Take notes! notes! notes! Don't be afraid to ask for assistance from the other racers. Most of them will help as they want you to safely get around the track and not be a hazard. You won't be a threat until you start passing them.

start the back. ride . learn from others lines and such. but most of all be careful and protect your equipment, until you are used to it and ready to make a charge. GOOD LUCK.

most tracks will start first time rookies at the tail for safety purposes and for the simple fact they are new and they dont want you tearing up the veterans cars.
