I have 2.56 tranny with a 3.27 rear gear in a mustang. solid head with good rods and rod bolts. would like to keep rpm's in the 7's /. what tire size would you recommend for 1/4 sem-banked and 3/8 tight turn track. thanks

BIG! LOL! Seriously, that's a 8.4 Final Drive and a lot of gear. I'd think 15's on a 3/8's and at least 14's on the 1/4.

FWIW I'm running 7.6 Final on a 1/4 and had to drop to 13's because I couldn't get 14" Diamondbacks past 6100. You have 8 tenths more gear and that should be good for over a thousand rpm.

Your results may vary tho.

evil pinto sounds closest to me,,if bbracer was on a 1/4 he needs more motor,,,,i ran a 7.10 with 13" ashalt take offs on a 1/4 and never got into the good part of my cam,,,a lunati solid lift .535 and .550,i dont recall really,, i think it turned bout 6200,,12.5 trw's on floated stock rods and crank,,,esslinger intake ,,4412 ,,74 jets,,38 degress timing,,in a 2450# car,,i usaully used 15" imca tires,,and would have liked to had around a ,,well i dunno,,maybe around an 8.0 with the imca tires and turned around 8,000,,,lots of things will effect what gear you want,,car weight ,, track conditions,,motor(CAM!),,,hope that helps,,
