Well the anwser depends on what type a chain guide you have if any.If you have the good one that 4 pieces fit next to the sproket then I run it pretty loose.Look at the chain and move it up and down half way between the clutch and sproket you should have about an inch or there abouts. The chain from the side view will "droop" a little. If no chain gaurds then 1/2 inch and chain mostly strait from side view with almost no "droop"but no tight spots. hope this helps

Hey Tony,

Go with what sideways said but if at all possible run that chain guide. It will allow for less overall friction or a more free rolling axle. We usually go for about 3/4" total chain movement (up & down) without a chain guide and up to 1" to even 1 1/2" chain movement with the chain guide.

Good Luck,

Chuck
