I got to decide what engine I want to run in my car. I got an OLDS Cutlass and the rules say it has to be the same make up to a 307. I thought I had an Olds 307, but when I pulled it and cleaned the oil and crud off it turned out to be a 350. So should I get an Olds 307 or look for a 305, or something else?

build a 302 chevy. gear it low and twist it tight. it'll puff the about same as a 305 or a 307. when they ask you about a chevy engine in an olds, you can tell them it's a GM corporate 305, lol.

Here's what the rulebook says. I don't see why I couldn't use any GM. I'd like to throw my neighbors suped up 318 magnum from his Ram in it though...

Must remain stock without any modifications and in stock location. The maximum permissible sizes are 265, 283, 302, 305, 307 and 318 cubic inches. One (1) stock, two (2) barrel carburetor. No dual pumpers or predator style permitted.

all sb olds look the same on the exterior unless you get a later model(after '77) one which will have the cid cast on the block. you could run the a early 350 and get away with it. Not that I am advocating cheating. Olds have alot of low end torque. If you go with a 307 get one with 5A heads and a the stock aluminum intake. They flow much better than the 7A heads.
