At the risk of sounding stupid, Has anyone ever stroked a 305? Is there anything that can be done with these (since there laying everywhere) or are they just boat anchors I would be interested in hearing any and all comments on this subject and also keeping $ in mind if the cost is way out there it wouldnt make sence anyway? I know what all the #s are in stock form what I need to know is what is possible in different combos....Thanks....Towman

i built one for a guy here once a few yrs ago, it used a 400 crank cut down and it yields 334 cubes...we used KB pistons with a small dome, it ran well and long in a stock car class....not sure it was any better than a plain old 350 tho? it definently cost more to build.

Valves are too shrouded in the small chamber to make any real power, use it in you're pull rig if you want gas mileage.

rico 08 hit the nail on the head in reference to the valve shrouding problem . This would be a combo that would peak the torque at a very low RPM , and then the torque would drop off like a lead balloon without yielding good HP numbers . I think the boat anchor theory is in favor on this combo .

We ran a few 307 chevy engine in our Cubic inch limited DIRT modified during the 80's. They would make lots of power when you twisted them,BUT we had some really good aluminum heads on them.

We ran a 305 for two season in a hotstock. We used the 461x heads with 2.02,1.60's,torker intake and a Crane cam.It turned low sevens in the rpm's.The motor ran consistantly in the top three. It got checked one night, there were alot of mad people when they found out what it was.
