I'm putting my new combination together and could use a little help to avoid pitfalls.
Modified w/ 355 on alky. Sportsman heads, 750 cfm carb. Looking to turn it about 7,000 RPM. We have or will have a new 19x24 radiator and a new "circle track" alum water pump. Will a plastic flex fan work ok? I have 2 different sets of pulleys set one is 5" crank and 7 3/4" pump (50% reduction?) Set two is 5 1/2" crank and 6 1/2" pump (30%?) Which set would be best? Also, how the heck do you calculate % reduction on pulleys? Do I need to run a water restrictor in the thermostat housing?
What about liquid for the radiator- Straight water, or add anti-freeze, or add something else?

I think it sounds like you got a good setup. You shouldnt have any heating problems on alky as a matter of fact alot of guys are running thermostats right now to build some heat in them because of the cool nights.I myself prefer the 30% reduction its easier on parts P.S. still works good too.Ive never tried the plastic fans but alot of guys on here say they are good too...just my opinion hope it helps...towman
