These are just some suggestions...If the mini starter isnt shimmed properly it will rob all its power binding up...does you battery have enough cranking amps....battery cable large enough...do you have good grounds I run one from the frame to the engine from engine to the body and from the battery to the frame.Let me know what you find out....towman

How many cranking amps do i need? I,m sure it's ground good but im going to try to shim the starter to night because when the motor hit last night the starter made a noise.

like he said make sure you have a good ground from the block to the frame and i alway hit the start button and let it get turning before i turn on the power to the hei makes it easier to fight the forces of the advance. if your not wired to do so the diagram is in one of the stock forums do a search for wiring diagram

If it spins over easy with out the ign switch on, it's just bucking the timing advance. Get the engine spinning then flip the ign switch on, If your not wired up to do it that way put battery power to your starter button so you can...

Thats a good heads up guys on the ignition .I told a guy that a few days ago on another question similar problem but didnt list it on this one...sorry but it does work I usualy will crack the throttle a little bit and let the engine spin a couple rounds and flip dist. power on and it should fire instantly..hope this helps towman
