Have/had a working powerglide. Bolted to SBC and something popped inside tran. After putting in car, the trans acted like it was low on fluid(not). What do you think broke? Putting another trans on tonight. Where did I go wrong? Thanks, Race

Make sure your converter or direct drive coupler is seated in the grooves. Back in my early days I did not have teh converter seated correctly in the pump and I broke off the ears of the pump guide. It too made a pop when I bolted up the converter.

Ok, new tran in. Shoots fluid out the front seal(shaft). Is that the seal or something else. Please help. Thanks!

Sounds like a bad seal.I had the thing happen on a new trans.

had that happen once to me. there is a babbett bearing inside the front pump.It will wear out where the pump and the input shaft meet. It takes a puller to remove the front pump. Any trans mission shop should be able to get you in and out fairly easy and quickly. Good Luck!

some of the drive couplers had a freeze plug in the crank end, it may be leaking out of there........something to check....ford5

I have found in the past that while bolting my Glide in that if I bump the starter a few times while the trans is still about 3/16" away from being tight the coupler will always go into the correct spot. Also, Make sure you are running long enough dowl pins or you will wear out the bushing around the pump drive really quick.

I got the tranny in. OK, the TC bolt holes are 1/2 inch or so from the flex plate holes. Can I go ahead and tighten it together or is that to much spacing? I don't wont to mess up again. Thanks, Race.

Do you run a mid engine plate? If so you need to make up for it with some spacers between the converter and the flexplate,1/2 inch sounds normal tho.Just pull the converter 'till you can bolt it up and you should be ok.
