forged are best and the most expensive, hypereutectic are cast with a high silicone content and are the second best, regular cast are the least expensive and least durable of the bunch. same thing for crankshafts....forged are best, cast is lowman on the totem pole. there are different alloys for a forged crank. i believe 4340 is the best.

Go forged they are much stronger and if you have a detonation problem they are a good insurance plan. If you can not afford them then stay with cast until you can afford forged. The problem with hyper is they have to be exactly set right and if you do drop a valve they shatter and ruin your block. But I know many will say that they have had good luck with them for years but in my opinion you are gonna pay for it one way or another. Bobby

i was told forged piston will pull a rod into. i run forged now with steel crank. An was told that was slowing me down coming off the corner. it was to much weight to turn. But i haven't had any motor trouble so for.

P5, the guy who told you that must've been using TRW forged slugs. they are heavy, but they're strong. a lightweight forged piston offers the best of both worlds, but they're expensive...
