I have the Vortec heads that were drilled and tapped for the stock intakes. The decision I have to make is run a Torker II (standard pattern) with the Vortecs or buy a Performer RPM (vortec Pattern). Which combo would give best performance? When I bolt standard intakes to the Vortecs, the ports don't align perfectly, leading me to think that there may be some flow loss there. However everyone says the Torker II is superior "on track" compared to the Performer RPM. Opinions and experience appreciated. SBC, 406, 1.94 x 1.50, .534 x .542 solid, 1 5/8 --> 1 3/4 stepped headers, 750 carb, 4000 - 6400 RPM. Thanks!

Brezinski sells vortecs machined to use the stock intake too so it obviously can be done, but i doubt if after it's done you can switch back to a vortec style.I'd go with the performer rpm,the torquer II may be better on the top end by a hair but the performer rpm will be better on the bottom.

Definetly go with the vortec performer intake. If you put an old pattern intake on the newer vortec heads it would be wearing your wifes panties to race in, it just ain't right!
Actually the vortecs were made for newer oem style plastic intakes. The older intakes just dont match up enough.

I can't speak on the port mismatch deal, cause I don't deal much with the Vortec heads, but with a 406 from 4000-6500 rpm, I think the Torquer would be the way to go. Let the cubes supply the bottom end punch, and let the manifold allow that big dog to breathe up high.
