I am putting together a 383.

But I have not made my mind up what heads to use.

Vortec? (Stock with ***** in studs)

Pro Action?(230cc 64cc comb. chamber)

Both head will be used with pop up pistons
about 12/1 or 13/1

What horsepower numbers will each produce?

Thanks

Vortec heads are good, but only when compared with other OEM GM heads. Compared with aftermarket or even Bowtie stuff, they cannot compete. I don't know if the 230cc port is the right one for your application, but if your rules allow aftermarket, then that is the way to go.

you might have a problem with the dome pistons on vortec heads. i would go with the pro heads. they flow much much better than vortecs also. vortecs also tend to crack if you get them hot...this castings.

Since your going to be so low on compression ratio , I'd use the 220cc head .
