what is acceptable for rod side clearance on a 9/16 chevy stroker.using stock 5.7 small journal rods.

.006to.008 will do just fine.

On a race engine , you will want a minimum of .018" . With the use of piston guided rod's these day's (which run about a 1/16" side clearance), there really is no maximum provided your bearing clearance is correct .

i check them all and want .018, but have settled for .015 at the tightest....

if you put a top brg in the bottom it will take most clearance out, due to the brg chamfer not lining up with the crank.
