This came in my gasket kit. What is it? What does it do? What's it's purpose? Is it necessary? Why does it only go on one side of the engine and not the other? Need some technical info on this here. HELP!!!!!!!!

If you're referring to the little metal square. this is what I do: I fill the guts up with a piece of sheet metal and put it in place. It's there to block off the heat riser that helps to warm the carb up on cold mornings. Truth is..cooler gas/air mix is better for racing. Seal it off with some sheet metal and forget it!

We plug the holes off for the heat riser in the intake too. We use the same trick small piece of sheet metal and very light film of silicone. No need for the hot air to be circulating through the intake. That is what the restrictor if for. Just toss it and use sheet metal on both sides.
