i have a 400 block that was sleeved in #1 cylinder 3 years ago the bore was marginal then. since then i have burned another piston and have decided to take it.040 over my ? is do i have to replace the sleeve in #1 or can it be bored with the rest of the cylinders thanks.

bore it with the rest of the cylinders. if you're going from .030 over to .040 over, hone it to the correct oversize. you're only moving .005 of material, less the wear in the .030 overbore.

ask your machinist if you have a thick wall or a thin wall sleeve in that cylinder. it is more than likely that it is the thick one so you should be all right,you could probably get away with .040 on the thin one to but i wouldn't go over that. i would go with what your machinist says to be on the safe side.
