Long for use with a stud girdle, short without.

If you dont have your rockers allready you might want to upgrade to 7/16 studs this is a lot stronger and cost about the same.

right, go with the heavier 7/16 and get the longer ones so you can use a stud girdle. A stud girdle to me is as good as the best insurance on you car. Requires a taller valve cover though.

a stud girdle comes with its own longer poly lock adjusting nuts and locks most of the time, and after completing final valve adjustments lock these poly locks, the girdle which is a solid piece of aluminum in two halfs then slips over these poly lock adjusters nuts and you tighten it down across the top of the valve train to lock everything down solid. even if one of the adjusting allen locks comes loose the girdle holds the rocker in place with no movement. A must for high rev or race motors and it eases flex and stress on studs on all motors.
